The New USDA National Organic Program guidelines require pet food labels to specify exactly which ingredients are certified organic. In order to be able to claim a "Certified Organic" status, each product must be made of no less than 95% certified organic ingredients by weight. All foods listed in Harrison's Bird Foods meet this criteria and are considered "Certified Organic".
Harrison's Bird Foods Supplementation Guidelines:
Supplementation with vitamins or other bird or animal food products in not recommended. When feeding Harrison's Bird Food fresh food supplementation should be limited to no more than 10% of the overall diet. Offer certified organic vegetables and fruits in small quantities; select dark yellow meaty or dark green leafy items such as sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango or papaya. Caution: For birds with suspected iron-storage disease avoid citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries and other foods containing vitamin C. Avoid grapes, currants, raisins, liver, red meat, egg yolk or dark green vegetables such as spinach, which may contain high levels of iron.
