Swinging good fun ...
If you've watched a bird play on a swing then you know the how much fun they provide. Birds love to swing and swings are important for birds to have for several reasons. First, they provide fun activity ... you know the kind ... swinging to and fro, hanging upside down, somersaulting around the swing, flapping wings, to name a few. As importantly as the fun they provide, swings are more than just a nice addition to your bird's environment. Swings provide a way for your bird to get exercise, burn off calories, keep their feet and legs in good condition to help avoid arthritis. Swinging activity strengthens chest and wing muscles as the bird balances on the moving swing. The movement of a swing resembles swaying branches a bird would encounter in the wild. Swinging also allows the bird to feel air movement ... perhaps providing some of the pleasure they'd receive from flight.
Providing a variety of swings is a good idea ... that your bird will welcome. Hang one or more in your bird's cage. Try different types and add them to their play stand or gym. There are a wide variety of designs, styles and sizes to choose from.
