Acrylic and Polycarbonate Bird Toys have become very popular over recent years due to their bright colors and long-lasting quality. Polycarbonate toys are especially durable with some (Lucky Bird Toys) being made with the same material used in bullet-proof windows. With many of these toys designed for foraging they are ideal to refill and rotate among multiple birds. When combined with wood or other textures the bright colors attract and the additional materials meets the need to chew most parrots require. Many Acrylic designs also feature interactive parts that will keep a bird busy. Acrylic and polycarbonate toys meet many needs, but should be combined with toys that are made of other materials that birds also find stimulating. Caution: When purchasing acrylic toys you must consider the size and strength of your bird. Large birds have the ability to break brittle plastics producing sharp cutting edges that are not safe and may break into small pieces that could be accidentally swallowed. Toys made of the polycarbonate materials mentioned above may be the ideal choice for birds that are especially destructive.
